Happy 4^th of July!

Independence Day… 4^th of July… Whatever you call it, today is the day we celebrate our freedom. What a great day, huh? Commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions and carnivals, this federal holiday is the birthday of the United States.

Are you sticking around Houston for the 4^th? If so, check out these events around Houston to celebrate the 4^th of July.

1.       Freedom Over Texas

·         Eleanor Tinsley Park

·         $8 a person; Under 5 free

·         With the Houston skyline as the backdrop, bring lawn chairs to catch this one-of-a-kind patriotic event. Sponsored by Southwest Airlines, this firework extravaganza is set to a perfectly timed bed of patriot and current musical selections. Featuring Sheryl Crow and Martina McBride, this July 4^th celebration is not one to miss!

 

2.       4^th of July Celebration at Bayou Bend

·         Runs from 1pm-5pm on Memorial Drive

·         Free

·         Celebrate Independence Day at Houston’s home for American decorative arts and paintings

·         Performers, crafts, activities, refreshments and more!

·         A reading of the Declaration of Independence, followed by birthday cake, starts at 3 p.m. on the Diana Terrace (north side) of the house.

 

3.       Fourth of July Music and Fireworks

·         Located at CityCentre starting at 6:30pm

·         Free Admission

·         Enjoy live music and fireworks starting at 6:30pm with fireworks starting at 9:30. Come early and enjoy dining on the patio at one of the many restaurants!

 

4.       Red Hot and Blue Festival

·         Located in The Woodlands, Texas at Town Green Park and Waterway Square

·         6pm-10pm with Fireworks beginning at dusk

·         Free Admission

·         The festival will feature live music, face painting, strolling performers, games, hot dog and watermelon eating contests, vendor booths, concessions, fireworks and much more!

 

5.       Independence Day Parade and Firework Show

·         Located on Galveston Island

·         Parade starts at 7:30pm (Along Seawall Boulevard from 28^th Street to 53^rd Street)

·         The firework show will start at about 9:15 over the waters of the Gulf
