Budget Friendly Restaurants in Houston, TX

Eating out can be expensive! Once you calculate dinner for two, sometimes even more, tip, gas and not to mention the price of food, eating out can pushed aside for special occasions only. We are here to save the day and give you a list of budget friendly, yet delicious, places to eat here in Houston, Texas!

1.       Empire Café

They have an assortment of coffee drinks, tea and in store beer and wine selections. They also have pasta dishes, sandwiches, pizza and TONS of breakfast dishes. Most of which, fall well below the $10 mark. This is a great place to get some brunch or end the day with a glass of wine and a slice of cake.

2.       Red Oak Grill
  • Red Oaks Grill is an American Mediterranean restaurant with three locations; Katy, Sugar Land and Missouri City. At Red Oaks Grill, they have anything from half pound burgers to pitas to wings. They really do have a wide (and delicious) variety of entrées. The majority of their dishes fall between $6 and $8, but some dishes get up to the $15 range. There is a Red Oak Mediterranean Sampler which allows you to sample different Kabobs on their menu. It is a little pricy; just under $50, but is a great platter to share!

For lunch, they serve Vermicelli Noodle bowls for around $8 and Rice plates for just over $10. 4.       Chuy’s
  • Chuy’s has several locations around Houston as well as Texas and other states. Chuy’s originated on Barton Springs road in an abandoned Texas barbeque restaurant. Spending all their money on getting the place up and running, the owners revamped the building and turned it into the popular restaurant it is today. The majority of their dishes run right under $10. From “Big As Yo Face” burritos to fajitas, this Mexican restaurant has it all! They serve very generous portions for a reasonable price. They also have margaritas, daiquiris and other libations. Chuy’s is known for their awesome happy hour and nacho bar. Chuy’s has music playing in the background and has  a very casual atmosphere. It is kid friendly and accommodating to groups.
  • They have several locations including seven locations in the Houston area. You can find the closest Chuy’s to you here: http://www.chuys.com/#/regions. Chuy’s has a unique and fun atmosphere and liked by thousands (including me! It’s one of my favorites!).

5.       The Breakfast Klub
  • How does the song go? A little bit of chicken fried… cold beer on a Friday night…. A pair of jeans that fit just right… Okay, I’ll stop! But every time I think of this restaurant I can’t help but tap my toe to that jingle. The Breakfast Klub is known for its fried chicken and waffles. And if you aren’t from the south you might be appalled by that idea! But it’s good, I promise! The Breakfast Klub is full of home cooking favorites. From pork chop and eggs to wings and grits, this popular brunch stop is full of southern favorites- and reasonably priced! But we do have to warn you- this place gets packed! And for good reason! Bring your appetite because the portions are large!
  • The Breakfast Klub is located at 3711 Travis Street in Midtown. It is a casual and fun place to take the kids. It has a private parking lot as well as street parking. It also has a catering service!
